“This Life” -Mercy Me

It’s been FOREVER since I’ve done a “grace” post, and I’ve recently become obsessed with this band, so I have been meaning to do a post on one of my favorite songs of theirs.  Mercy Me is a Christian Band with an awesome sound, five uber-talented musicians, and an overwhelming passion for Christ.  They’ve been around for ages, but unfortunately I didn’t discover them until this June.  If you’re into great music, go get a few of their albums. NOW! You won’t be sorry 🙂

“This Life” is from their newest album “The Generous Mr. Lovewell” and it is so upbeat that I nearly always end up dancing around, singing at the top of my lungs when it comes on.  Because I love almost anything I can dance and/or sing to, it immediately became one of my favorites, and it has phenomenal lyrics.  Okay, it’s time for you to listen for yourself!

Here are those fabulous lyrics I was talking about:

This is not my home, this is not my space
Simply not my style, this is not my place
Can’t get comfortable, can’t get settled in
I simply don’t belong, can’t get used to this

But I’m here right now, I can hear You say
“Make the most of Me, this won’t go to waste”
If I’m out of my mind, yeah it’s all for Christ
If I’m makin’ sense, then get in line

Every moment is a chance to
Let Your light break through

This life (oh-oh oh)
This life was meant to shine
(2x)

I don’t have to stall, I don’t have to wait
Don’t have to bide my time, til I make my escape
‘Cause heaven’s in my heart, I won’t settle for less
I will lift Your name, by the life I live

It’s in my heart!
It’s in my soul!
I live every day just to make You known
‘Cause this life (oh-oh oh)
This life was meant to, meant to shine

Hold your heads up high
This is our moment to rise
We were meant to shine, not just survive

I wanted to share this with you because I try to always live my life like “Every moment is a chance to let [His} light break through.”  If you’ve been with me since the genesis of Glow of Grace, you’ll know that I believe that beauty starts on the inside.  In my mind, to have a beautiful soul that is filled with grace and the light of Christ is to have it all.  In our travels, I have met numerous women and I can honestly tell you that when you meet a woman who simply radiates God’s light and love, it translates into a very tangible outward beauty.  So my beauty advice of the day (month, year, century) is to let His light shine through you in every way because “this life was meant to shine!

My husband and I were fortunate to be a part of Faith Day at which Mercy Me performed.  We gave our testimonies along with our dear friends Bobby and Gari Meacham before the concert began.  Gari, a well-renowned author, speaker and founder of Truly Fed Ministries, is one of those women I spoke of earlier who is always alight with the love of Christ Jesus.  She quite literally shines in every aspect of her life!

And I can’t talk about Mercy Me without also sharing their song, “I Can Only Imagine.”  It’s another one of my favorites, but is quite different from “This Life.”  It’s a beautiful ballad with lyrics that move many (myself included) to tears, as they sing about the glorious moment that you finally get to meet our savior Jesus Christ.

Don’t you just love Mercy Me??? I’ll be back soon with my next Urban Decay Smoked Palette tutorial for you.  Until then, enjoy the music and let your life shine!

XOXO
