Happy Monday, my friends!! Look at what showed up on my doorstep today!  That’s right folks, the brand new installation in the Urban Decay Naked series is here. I bring you…the Naked3 Palette.  I kind of can’t believe there is actually a third, but it’s beautiful and I didn’t hesitate to grab it up when it came out a few days ago.  Actually, that’s a lie.  I did hesitate.  I contemplated waiting to buy this in a couple of weeks when it comes out at Ulta, but let’s be serious, that thought didn’t make it past noon.

After putting up a picture on Instagram, y’all told me that you wanted a full review and swatches, plus a comparison to the Lorac Unzipped Palette.  Today, I will walk you through each of the twelve brand new shades, and I’ll conclude this post with a brief comparison to the Unzipped.  My good friend Laura from MrsLolaLynn will be doing a full, in depth comparison soon, so be sure you’re subscribed to her channel so you won’t miss it when it goes up!

So let’s talk about this palette, shall we?  This Naked palette is heavily infused with pinks and rose gold.  Pink shadows can sometimes be hard to pull off, but all of these shades are extremely wearable.  The packaging is virtually the same metal tin that houses the Naked2 Palette, and comes with a dual ended synthetic brush.  These brushes are high quality, but don’t actually get a lot of use from me because they live in their respective palettes.  I keep all of my brushes in a glass jar, and I don’t want to ruin double sided brushes by storing them this way.  And then it’s just out of sight out of mind, but they’re awesome for travel if you don’t want to lug around any extra eye brushes.  Like the others, it also has a large mirror, which stands up on it’s own.

Strange – matte nude cream; SUPER creamy and will be amazing as a brow bone highlight
Dust – glittery pale pink; Beautiful, but holy fallout
Burnout – satin pale rose pink; Really buttery and will look great on the lid

Limit – matte dusty rose mauve; A great, subtle crease color & mother to Tease
Buzz – satin dusty rose mauve; The satin version of Limit and so gorgeous
Trick – satin rose gold; A beautiful shade, but was just not as creamy or pigmented as the other satin shades

Nooner – matte dark, dusty mauve; another great crease color & father to Tease
Liar – satin rose blush; another buttery, pigmented pink
Factory – satin rich plum brown; the formula of this shadow is perfection!

Mugshot – satin taupey rose; formulated like Trick–not very creamy or pigmented
Darkside – satin cool taupe; again the formula falls short of my expectations
Blackheart – satin black with red/copper micro glitter; love this different take on black! (I called this a matte in the video, but I’ve decided it’s a satin. Forgive me.)

Naked3 on top; Unzipped on bottom

This palette is beautiful, and honestly, after swatching it, I don’t think it’s as much like the Unzipped as I originally thought.  I mean, they obviously are both very beautiful and very rose inspired.  However, I was expecting far more dupes than there were.  There are shades that are similar, or will function much the same, but I was pleased by how different the two turned out to be.  Now obviously, if you’re not a makeup addict like myself, you definitely don’t NEED both, so I’ve done a brief statistical comparison below.  Please keep in mind that these pros and cons are only in relation to each other.

Naked3 Palette Pros:
– 12 full sized shadows with (mostly) great formulation
– Sturdy casing with large mirror
– Includes a dual sided shadow brush
– An excellent range of color from cream to rich reddish black

Naked3 Palette Cons:
– $52 retail price
– Comes with cardboard samples of the four Eye Primer Potion shades
– Some inconsistencies with formulation
– Almost exclusively pink & rose toned shadows

Unzipped Palette Pros:
– $40 retail price
– Comes with deluxe same of Lorac Eye Primer
– Offers a good variety of both pink and warm neutrals
– Nice ration of satin to matte shadows
– Generally good formulation of all 10 shadows

Unzipped Palette Cons:
– Does not come with a brush
– Cardboard packaging with a medium sized mirror
– Some inconsistencies with formulation
– Fails to offer a truly dark shade
