I’ve had a request to do OOTD (outfit of the day) and makeup pairings, so today I want to show you how to liven up a neutral outfit with a pop of color. I am loving neutrals right now because they appear summery even when I’m wearing long sleeves and pants. You’ll see tons and tons of neutrals if you pick up any fashion magazine, and they are often being paired with bright pops of color. You can bring color into a neutral outfit by wearing bright shoes or a belt, carrying a fun purse, or even through your makeup, which is what I’ve done today. I’ve recently purchased L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Perpetual Purple, and that is the inspiration behind this look.

I love how the purple shimmers! Such a great way to work color into your OOTD!
Pictured above is my OOTD–an easy button up blouse paired with white denim jeggings. Because I’m not a 6 foot tall, size 0 fashion model, I wear skinny jeans or jeggings very carefully so that I don’t look too hippy and wide. My rule is that I must pair them with a loose-fitting top, heels, or boots. ALWAYS. I’m only 5’3″ and have curves, so I’m constantly afraid of flaunting my petite frame in an unflattering way. Adding a flowy top that grazes your hips will balance out the figure-hugging jeans. Heels are always helpful because they lengthen out your legs and, obviously, make you taller! Boots hide the fact that the jeans hug your legs all the way to your ankles, but seeing as it’s an average of 90 degrees outside right now, those are not an option. Knowing the average temperature may have you questioning my outfit completely because it’s long sleeves and jeans, but I’m often inside where the A/C is constantly trying to freeze me out. By keeping the fabrics and colors light or bright, you can pull off longer lengths even in the summer months. Thank goodness!
I hope you’ve all enjoyed my first OOTD/makeup pairing. Please comment below with your favorite combo or suggestions for future tutorials.
Yay! Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I can’t wait for more things like it! I love the purple with the gray, because I find myself wearing colors like that all the time! 🙂

Hi there,
Is it possible to give us the names of the brushes that you used? Thank you!

Absolutely!! The brushes I have now were originally just a travel set, so they’re not the best, but they work! Most of the eye brushes you see me use with wooden handles are EcoTools from Walgreens. I’ve also recently purchased an angled blush brush and an angled eyeliner brush by Soho, also from Walgreens. I’ve also got a couple of Sonia Kashuk brushes from Target. Hope this helps!
