Summer 2012 Most Worn Things TAG

With the end of summer comes a whole new world of boots, scarves and fun fall colors to incorporate into your beauty routine. I really think it’s probably my favorite season ever.  I love wearing lots of layers with boots, drinking and eating all things pumpkin, and watching college football. But before we can get into all of that, I wanted to sum up my summer favorites with this Most Worn Things TAG.  I think I’ll probably do this at the end of every season for you, but for now, let’s get started with Summer of 2012.

On me: EXPRESS Tiered Ruffle Tank (similar) & Birchbox Color Club Nail polish (Insta-this)

Most worn nail polish: Essie Limo-scene

I love this sweet, pale pink!! I know summer is a time for brights, but I just can’t help that I’m a pale pink nail polish addict.  I just think it always looks great with any outfit and is so pale that it’s nearly white, but not stark white.  I’m definitely a 3 coats kind of girl and think that’s when the color looks it’s best.  Of course, if you prefer your nail polish to be more sheer, just stick to 2 coats.

Most worn hair product: Garnier Fructis Extreme Control Hair Spray

I should put more products in my hair, but it’s the one thing that I’m just super low maintenance about.  That being said, I probably couldn’t live without this hair spray.  I use it to tame down my little baby hairs and keep those sock buns looking neat and tidy!

Most worn bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Speedy 30

Damier or dumbell?  It’s a little ridiculous how much I lug around in my purse, but I’m usually covered in all kinds of situations.  My mom calls it my Mary Poppins bag, which isn’t all that far from the truth.  I love this trusty bag to hold all of my gear, and I feel like the Damier Azur pattern is so perfect for summer!

Most worn shoes: Quipid Slingback Sandals

These babies were such a great find while I was shopping with my friend Jennifer in Huntington Beach.  I should really thank her for spotting them (so thanks Jen!) because I’ve worn them so often.  I just love that they’re nude and super tall and go with absolutely everything.  They instantly cutesy up a pair of cuffed jeans and white tee, but also accompany a bold printed short well.  Did I mention how comfortable they are?! Shocking for an inexpensive pair of 5 in heels, but I’ll take it!

Most worn accessories: Diamond Cross & White Mickey Mouse Watch

Other than the gorgeous diamond cross that Kyle gave me earlier this spring that pretty much never leaves my neck, my most worn accessory is my Mickey Mouse watch that I bought during our Disney’s Animal Kingdom adventure.   I am normally not a watch-wearer, but this charming little time piece was too cute not to use as a white accent to my wardrobe.  Plus it’s Mickey Mouse.  Enough said.

Most worn clothing item: EXPRESS Striped Tank (similar)

Unfortunately, the tank I showed in my video was bought a long time ago and is no longer available, but this Forever 21 tank is even cuter!! I just loved having a cute, casual striped tank to throw on with shorts & vans or under a blazer with heels depending on the occasion.

Most worn foundation: L’Oreal True Match Foundation

I’m not a huge fan of wearing foundation in the summer, but when I needed some extra coverage, I turned to True Match.  I wear shade Nude Beige/W3 and it provides great coverage without feeling too heavy or greasy.  I generally didn’t even need concealer when I wore this which is always a bonus in my book.

Most worn blush and/or bronzer: Benefit Dallas

I used this as my one-step-to-pretty-cheeks product throughout most of the summer.  The plum undertones make it dark enough to use for a little bit of contouring, but it’s pink enough to look great on the apples of my cheeks.  I swept it directly on to my cheekbones and I was on my way!

Most worn lip product: Revlon Lip Butter (Berry Smoothie)

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Revlon Lip Butters, but I’m pretty obsessed with this color which was also mentioned in my August Faves.  It’s just pigmented enough to give my face a little color when I wore limited makeup.  It’s a great pinky-red that’s sheer, but buildable, and goes on more like a lip balm than a lipstick which is perfect for my crazy dry lips.  The hint of shimmer gives it a great shine too!

Most worn mascara: Urban Decay Super Curl Mascara

I got this mascara as a sample when I bought my Smoked Palette and was instantly impressed.  With my lash extensions I was limited to using this on my lower lashes only, but I love the formula.  Super creamy, not clumpy, and never flaky.  Since I ripped off all of my lash extensions in a crazy, OCD moment (we’ll get into that later), I’ve been using it on my sad, little lashes and I like it for the top too!! I’ll definitely purchase this baby when my sample tube runs dry.

Most worn eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked2 Palette

I’m pretty sure that I used this palette every single day.  The large array of neutrals just has so much versatility and can create simplistic day time looks, as well as dramatic night looks.  My most used shade was Tease (a matte cocoa brown), as I often just swiped that on my lids and wore it on its own.  Add a little black eyeliner and you’re set!

I feel like this post is really the conclusion of summer.  It’s time for all things fall, and I’m so ready for that change!! Speaking of change, please bear with me the next week or two as Kyle and I move back to our home in Austin.  It’s going to be tough to post and film in the midst of packing, moving and unpacking.  Thanks in advance for cutting me some slack while I get our home in order, and…maybe let my lashes grow back in a bit.  Oops. This does mean that false eyelash application tutorials are in your future though!  So let’s look at this lashline as half full, shall we? Great, thanks.
