Happy Hump Day, y’all!  Have you seen this week’s Maintenance Monday tutorial yet?  I show you how I created some awesome nail art with my Revlon Nail Art Expressionist polish in Silhouette.  I’ve been rockin’ this look for two straight weeks now, so I feel it’s time to tell you my thoughts on the product.

For starters, there are three different lines within the Revlon Nail Art collection–Expressionist, Neon, and Moon Candy.  I have only tried the Expressionist polish, but right off the bat, I’m going to go ahead and say that the other two lines are more of “effect” polishes rather than nail art.  The Neon line comes with a white polish and a neon polish that are designed to be layered to really make the color pop, and the Moon Candy line comes with a dark polish and a bright chunky glitter polish that are, again, designed to be layered for a dimensional glitter effect.  Cool concepts, but I’d really only qualify the Expressionist line as “nail art” since it’s the only one that is specifically made for creating designs on your nails.

That’s why I decided to pick up this Expressionist polish in the duo Silhouette.  I thought the neutral earthy tones were a perfect way to wear a busy nail art design.  Normally I’m not a huge fan of true nail art on myself, but I thought that the muted colors might just be perfect.  And I have to say that I’m loving it!  The two colors go perfectly together, and I’m particularly in love with the nail art polish in the duo.

I haven’t had any problems with chipping or lifting, which is always a huge plus in my book, but I do have one complaint about this duo.  The regular polish is SO gloopy and hard to work with.  I expect this of old polish, but I find it pretty unacceptable in a brand new bottle.  If it’s this bad now, how bad will it be once I have had it for a while?!  It’s disappointing because the color is amazing, but it just doesn’t apply evenly no matter how hard I try.  Normally being more of an Essie and OPI girl, I’m not super familiar with Revlon polishes, so let me know in the comments if this is pretty standard with them or if I maybe just got a bad bottle.  Either way, I do really enjoy the nail art end, so I can see myself pairing that with other polishes I have.
