Lorac Unzipped Palette: Review & Swatches

LoracUnzipped(1)

I’ve got another great palette review for you, friends!   If you watched my birthday haul, you’ll know that whilst shopping around Ulta, this beauty caught my eye and sucked me in.  The Lorac Unzipped Palette has been getting a lot of hype lately, and I can see why.  Amazingly enough, they’ve found a new way to do neutrals.  This palette is filled with rose golds and plums that you just can’t help but fall in love with.  So now it’s time for you to fall in love with it too!

The sturdy cardboard packaging has the cutest little zipper design on it, and has a magnetic closure to keep the palette from flying open at random.

As you can see, the palette comes with a very good sized mirror, but it lacks a hinge, so it cannot hold itself up.  Definitely not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind if you’re using this palette on the go.

Aren’t these shadows beautiful?!  The palette comes with ten eye shadows–six shimmer shades and four mattes.  The shades range from a very light highlight to a deep plum, and the formulas are quite nice.  This is my first Lorac palette, but I’d heard so many good things about their Pro and Pro-to-Go palettes that I was excited to see how their shadows would stand up to my high standards.  (Thanks for that, Urban Decay.)  The formula did range slightly from shadow to shadow, but I experienced virtually zero fallout from each one which is a huge plus in my book.  To hear more about the formulation of each shadow, be sure to watch my full review HERE.

Unzipped Swatches(1)

Undercover – a matte, cream nude.  Pretty creamy, but not extremely pigmented.  However, this will be the perfect brow bone highlight shade.

Unbelievable – a metallic rose gold.  My favorite shadow in the palette!  Not only is the color beyond beautiful, but it is smooth as butter and extremely pigmented.

Unattainable – a metallic copper.  This one is another beauty.  It’s such a great warm brown, and was nearly as creamy and pigmented as Unbelievable.

Unattainable – (See above for description.)

Unconditional – a matte rosey mauve.  This is one of the more creamy mattes in the palette.  It reminds me of Tease from the Naked2, and will be a great contouring crease color when you want something a little softer than a traditional brown.

Unbridled – a matte rusty plum.  This has a very similar formulation to Unconditional.  This is the darkest shade in the palette, and will be great in the outer corner and crease to create darker smoky looks.

Undiscovered – a metallic pale gold.  This is such a beautiful color!  It is not as pigmented as Unbelievable, but just as creamy.

Unreal – a metallic pale rose gold.  If Unbelievable and Undiscovered mated, this would be their child.  It’s a gorgeous combination of these two shades, and is formulated like Undiscovered.

Uncensored – a metallic bronze.  This beautiful, shimmery brown is formulated much like Unattainable and it has great buildable pigmentation.

Uncensored – (See above for description.)

Unspoken – a matte cocoa brown.  Formulated much like Unconditional, it is the other neutral color that would work perfectly as a crease and contour color.

Untamed – a metallic plummy brown.  This was the only shadow in the palette that I was disappointed by.  It was not very creamy nor very pigmented.  It took a lot of work to get the swatch built up even this much.  From looking at the palette, I expected this to be the darkest shade, but it just fell short.  I am interested to see how this performs with a brush though.

Unzipped retails for a reasonable $40 and comes with a sample of their eye primer, which is pictured in the first photo.  If you like what you see, you can purchase this palette from Ulta, Sephora, or LoracCosmetics.com.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase, and if you love rose gold and plum as much as I do, you won’t be disappointed either.  I loved the great balance of metallics and mattes in this palette, and I know that it will get a lot of use.  I will definitely be doing tutorials with this beauty, so leave a comment below if there are any specific colors you’d like me to use!

Best & Blessings,Rachel
