Joshua 1:9 | Daily Bible Weeks 9 & 10

We caught up!  Hooray! And not only that, but we have successfully made it out of the laws!  Moses has now passed on, and Joshua has been chosen to lead God’s people to Jericho.  As they get ready to take the city, God constantly reassures him of His presence and power. I’ve read (probably on Pinterest) that the phrase “Do not be afraid” is stated 365 times throughout the Bible–a daily reminder that God has got your back. I’m pretty sure that most of them happen at the end of Deuteronomy and the beginning of Joshua, so if you’re ever having a worry-filled day, just pray over these pages.

Joshua 1:9 | Daily Bible

“…Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

I highlighted many verses just like this one throughout the week’s readings, but this one stood out to me for a few reasons.  Not only is God telling us not to be afraid, but He is telling us to be strong and courageous.  It’s not enough just to be unafraid.  He has laid out the most wonderful paths for our lives, and we have to walk them boldly and courageously for His glory!

And of course, I love the reassurance that God is with me wherever I go!  Even when things are looking a little bleak, God is there! He is waiting for you to turn to Him, to lean on Him, to help you grow in your faith.  When things are absolutely amazing, He is there! Allow Him to revel in the good moments with you too.  Praise Him for the wonderful blessings He has brought to your life!  He is always with you, encouraging you and leading you to the greatness He has planned, so let Him in and enjoy every moment, the good and the bad, with our Almighty God.

Best & Blessings,
Rachel
