Who else watched Ashley marry J.P on Sunday night?  I’m not going to lie, their wedding had me in tears a couple of times.  I adore them together and I had J.P picked out for her on night one of The Bachelorette!! She is just so cute and bubbly, and I love how she’s not at all afraid to be a goof.  On her wedding day, she looked absolutely stunning in her curls and makeup by Carol Shaw, founder of LORAC. The whole time I was watching it, I was studying her makeup and taking mental notes so that I could recreate the look for you.  My job was made easier when I was searching for pictures for this post and found a description of how Shaw created this look.  If you’d like to see that description, just click on the picture above.  I took that and put my own little twist on it using my favorite products.  I’m so bummed that this was the best (well,only) close-up shot of her!!  It really doesn’t do the makeup justice.  Go watch some of the wedding so you can see just how gorgeous she looked the day she became Mrs. Ashley Rosenbaum.

A few tips to have photo flawless makeup:
1.  Don’t use products with SPF.  It will reflect the light from the flash and wash out your face.
2. Stick to mattes.  The littlest bit of shimmer can turn out looking like major shine on camera.  If you’re going to have any shimmer at all, keep it to the tops of the cheekbones.
3. PRIME, PRIME, PRIME.  It gives you a smooth, even surface to work with and will give your makeup serious staying power.  Use a matte setting spray too. 4. Blend your foundation down your neck to avoid the “makeup line.”
5. Be a little more heavy handed than you normally would be.  The flash will wash you out a little, so account for it and darken/brighten up that look.

Before you call me out on this, I know I didn’t follow all of my rules for the tutorial, but if you know you’re going to be photographed a lot, do as I say, not as I do.
