Sigma Beauty, well-known for their high quality brushes that are found in the videos of nearly every beauty guru, has recently been expanding their makeup collection. One of their new additions and the star of today’s post is the assortment of Eye Shadow Bases that was launched earlier this month. These creamy, super pigmented bases are designed to prolong the wear of your eye shadow and make the colors really pop. I truly enjoy using eye shadow bases, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some of these babies.
The bases are sold individually or in one of three kits–Bare, Dare, and Flare–that each include three bases, an F70 brush for flawless application, and just so happen to coincide with their namesake eye shadow palettes. Each individual base retails for $13 and the kits retail for $36, so I decided to purchase a kit to get the most bang for my buck.

We all know that I generally stick to neutrals, so the choice of which kit to buy was really a no-brainer. I clicked the “Place Order” button and eagerly awaited the arrival of my Bare kit! It arrived in an adorable little box that beautifully displayed all three bases and the brush. I just couldn’t wait to dig in and explore!

The brush isn’t full size, but is a handy travel sized version of the F70 brush. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in design. It is color coordinated with the kit and even has “Bare” written along the side. Super cute, super soft, and the perfect brush for applying these bases on your lids.

The packaging is well made and even comes with an exclusive anti-drying inner lid. I know we’ve all been there, when our gel products start to dry up and seem to be shrinking in their pots. This ingenious inner lid fits securely in the top of the pot to prevent air from drying and ruining the product. Quite literally my only complaint about these eye shadow bases is the bulkiness of the pot itself. The pot is fairly large, but the amount of product is about the same as you’d get in a typical gel eyeliner. It’s not to say that there isn’t enough product, but rather an unnecessary amount of excess packaging that takes up space in my makeup storage.

These are the three colors that come with the Bare eye shadow base kit. Listed below are descriptions of each color.
Persuade – matte nude
Pose – shimmery, copper brown
Sculpt – shimmery, dark charcoal gray
These are how the bases swatch on my skin. I really built up the color in these swatches so you could see the colors well, but the beauty of these bases is that you can be really light handed and blend the color out for a soft sheer base, or build them up to an intense opacity.
Persuade– a wonderful true nude that doesn’t read too warm or cool; perfect for every day use under any shadow
Pose– a really warm, coppery brown that has just enough shimmer to be pretty, but not too over the top; perfect to pump up the color of your favorite neutrals
Sculpt– a dark, shimmery charcoal gray that goes on fairly sheer and builds to be intensely dark; perfect for adding intensity and depth to any color
I’ve really been enjoying these bases in my makeup routine. They’re really creamy and blendable, but once they set, they don’t budge. My crease area is so small, so I do have problems with creasing before products even have a chance to set. I feel like these bases really help my shadow and liner to stay in place to prevent this from happening.
These bases are the perfect product to amp your eye shadows and make them perform to their best ability. In just a short amount of time, they’ve become an integral part of my routine. I didn’t use one this morning and I seriously regret it! Persuade will definitely be my go-to base of choice for daily use, but I’m happy that I have the others in my collection.
