Back to Basics: Easy At Home Mani

WM Easy At Home Mani

This tutorial has been requested a couple of times, so I decided it was time to teach you my at home mani ways.  I personally don’t like going to get my nails done because they never seem to do as good of a job as I would do myself.  I have literally come straight home from the nail salon on multiple occasions and redone them.  I’m slightly OCD and quite the perfectionist so they all have to be perfectly shaped and painted.  Over the years, these are the tips and tricks I’ve developed for getting that salon-look at home.

Products mentioned:
Bath & Body Works Nail File
Studio 35 4way Buffer
Studio 35 Slant Tip Cuticle Clipper
Nailtiques Oil Therapy
Nailtiques Formula 2
Essie Limo-scene
Seche Vite

Obviously I was not just born with the ability to do my nails like this.  It takes time, patience, and lots and lots of practice.  Don’t be discouraged if you follow this routine and still find yourself struggling.  Practice makes perfect.  Rome wasn’t built in a day.  Insert other cheesy cliches here.  But in all seriousness, if you want your nails to look good, take the time to sit at the table and focus.  You can’t be surprised if your nails look like a 5 year old painted them if you’re sitting on the couch, watching a movie, and eating popcorn with the nail polish precariously perched on one knee.  And don’t forget to allow them time to properly dry before folding laundry or hopping into bed.

My number one trick to fooling people into thinking I’ve recently taken a trip to the nail salon is my Seche Vite top coat.  A friend recommended this to me a few years ago and I’ve never looked back.  One thick coat over freshly painted nails is all it takes to have ultra shiny nails that last for days.  As an added bonus, it dries SUPER fast so you don’t have to be sitting there for 30 minutes waiting for your nails to dry.  It can be found at the drugstore, so do yourself (and your nails) a favor and go pick up a bottle.

Have fun painting your nails and let me know in the comments if you have any other tips or tricks that work well for you!

Best & Blessings,
