How To: Cover Acne & Acne Scars/My Full Coverage Foundation Routine

Full Coverage Foundation Before & After

While my hormonal acne has caused me much duress, it has also made me better at applying my makeup and at dealing with all types of skin.  Bad for me, good for all of you.  It’s not exactly a comfortable thing to be in front of the camera with no makeup on, but I figured I had to show you guys how I’ve been dealing with my acne and its accompanying scars. I know that some people have better skin than I do, and that others are suffering from acne much worse than mine. However, I hope that no matter what, you find this tutorial helpful!

Before Foundation

I realize now that I should’ve taken these photos from the side rather than straight on because my acne has made a home along my jawline and chin, which you can’t see too well here.  So this picture is a LIE because it makes my skin look better than it really is.  Good thing the video doesn’t lie.  You can see those acne scars nice and clear in that HD footage.

After Foundation

I truly am amazed by the number of compliments I get on my skin and my complexion when I follow this routine.  I kind of want to laugh because in my head I’m thinking, “Oh man..you have no idea what lies beneath the makeup.”  But I think that just speaks volumes to the effectiveness of this particular foundation routine and the products themselves!

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s write up of my L’Oreal True Match collection.  I was going to say something about it here, but since it’s really helped me cope with my acne issues, I think it deserves a post of its own.

Best & Blessings,
Rachel

I -love- that you did this! As I hit my 30’s…boop.. the acne fairy graced me with her hormonal presence. Lovely. I have been struggling with it for a few years, and it’s finally starting to tame a bit. Phew! But… I am getting married in October and, knowing my face, it’ll panic and break out. I look fabulous when no one is around…go figure. 😉
Thank you so much for getting in the uncomfy place of nekkid skin face – it goes beyond appreciated!
btw – the music you picked is kick butt awesome 😉

Great postn I am struggling with hormonal acne too, just hit me in my mid twenties and has caused such depression! I can’t get rid of it. I’ve tired every expensive makeup you can think of- and by 3:00 it’s off and my face looks like a pizza.

Does loreal ever cause you to break out? That’s been my issue. Trying to figure if certain makeup a make it worse?
    Thanks for your post

I’m so sorry that you’re going through that. It’s just NO fun at all! Everyone’s skin is different, so unfortunately, you’ll have to find one that works for you. But the original L’Oreal True Match is the ONLY foundation I’ve found so far that doesn’t break me out or clog my pores and give me those little bumps all over my face. I hope this has been helpful!

What were your reasonings for the Arbonne primer, estee lauder illuminator, and the L’oreal True Match powder and foundations? Versus the Bare Minerals primer, Lancome Illuminator, and Bare Minerals powder or Too Faced Foundation? I’m always looking for the best makeup for my sensitive skin that blends well, lasts hours in South Texas heat and sweat, but doesn’t look caked on or can smudge and look overly done. I stick with what I know after buying numerous recommended brands and disliking 99 % of them. But if the reasons are good, I will be very very happy I found this 🙂 Thank You for putting this out there!

Honestly these are just what I found worked best for me and for my skin!! I definitely recommend the products, but I think everyone’s skin reacts differently, so you do have just do what works for you!
