Hello and Happy Tuesday, y’all!  How did you do with your reading this week?  I’m not going to lie, I struggled to keep up.  If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I had some friends in from out of town and we took Austin by storm!  Because I am still not in a very good routine with my Daily Bible yet, I let my busyness get the best of me.  However, I caught up this morning and I’m vowing to do better this week.

If you are doing the Daily Bible with me, you’ll know that this week was all about Abraham and the story of his descendants.  He is such an inspiration and model for true faith and trust in God.  When God instructs him to sacrifice his son Isaac on an altar, Abraham doesn’t hesitate or question God.  Now that is the kind of dedication to God that we should all strive to have.

Apart from the amazing example of Abraham’s devotion to God’s every will, the English major in me just loves the foreshadowing that occurs in this verse.

When Isaac asks what will be sacrificed, this is Abraham’s reply, and indeed many generations later, God himself does provide the sacrificial Lamb.  God makes the very sacrifice that Abraham set out to make that day.  Abraham’s devotion to God is something we should all strive for.  The willingness to obey God’s will even if it means giving up something that we love and cherish because, honestly, nothing can compare to the sacrifice God made when He sent His Son to the cross for us and for our salvation.

On that same note, I found this quote the other day while I was browsing Pinterest and I just thought it was so perfect that I had to share with y’all.

Being a Christian isn’t about being perfect because no one is perfect.  We are all human–we err and we sin on a daily basis.  It’s about going out into the world and doing as God instructs you to do!  So this week, take a leaf from Abraham’s book.  Go out and courageously and actively do God’s will!
