Ever since Milani released their first collection of Rose Blushes last year, there has been a lot of talk and hype about them. So when they released their new Spring 2014 Limited Edition Collection of these floral-inspired blushes, I knew I had to review them for y’all.
The packaging is quite a bit different than the Milani Baked Blushes. They’re thin, flat compacts with a clear top and a slightly mirrored edge. And, boy, they sure do look pretty, don’t they?
Tea Rose – matte pale rose. As you can see, the formula is super powdery and patchy. The color is quite nice though, so I would recommend using this with a duo fiber brush and tapping the heck out of said brush for a light, buildable application.
Love Potion – matte bright pink. Ever so slightly less patchy and powdery, but it performs much the same as Tea Rose.
Coral Cove – matte medium coral. Although it’s still not great, it’s definitely the best formulation of the bunch, which for me is unfortunate, since I’m not big on coral blushes.
Lady Rouge – matte pinkish red. This is what my mom and I like to call “fake makeup.” You know, the plastic makeup you give to your 2 year old daughter so that she can get dolled up like mommy without any of the mess? Literally it took a solid minute of scrubbing trying to get this partial swatch. Milani added a similar color to their Baked Blush collection this year called Bella Rosa that blows this one out of the water.
As I had feared, Milani missed the mark with this collection. I heard that happened with the last round of these Rose Blushes, which is why I skipped them. It’s so unfortunate because Milani is one of my favorite drugstore brands and generally have phenomenal quality. I think they’d be better off reformulating these matte colors for their Baked Blush collection. However, if you’re still bound and determined to get your hands on them, you can buy them for $7.99.
Have you tried these? What do you think?
Best & Blessings,
Rachel
